How We Can Help
Choosing senior living in Oregon means choosing between levels of care that sound similar and cost very differently. Here is what each one actually means, who it suits, and how we help you tell them apart, at no cost to your family.
Active seniors who want community, convenience, and independence without the burden of home maintenance.
Who it suits
Someone who manages their own medications and daily care, but is tired of yard work, home repairs, cooking every meal, or living alone.
What it typically includes
Hands-on personal care and medication management are generally not part of independent living. If those needs appear later, most residents move to assisted living, sometimes within the same community.

Personalized support with daily activities while maintaining as much independence as possible in a dignified setting.
Who it suits
Someone who needs a hand with bathing, dressing, medications, or mobility, but does not need round-the-clock nursing care.
What it typically includes
Care levels, and therefore price, vary widely between communities. Two places quoting the same base rate can include very different amounts of hands-on care, which is one of the biggest reasons families end up paying more than they expected.

Specialized environments designed for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory-related conditions.
Who it suits
Someone with a dementia diagnosis, or who is wandering, becoming disoriented, sundowning, or no longer safe living alone.
What it typically includes
Memory care communities differ significantly in how they handle behaviors like exit-seeking, aggression, or sleep disruption. Some will accept a resident and later ask them to leave. Matching the community to the specific behaviors matters more here than anywhere else.

also known as Adult Foster Homes
A licensed private residence caring for a small number of residents, typically five or fewer, in a true home setting.
Who it suits
Someone who would be overwhelmed in a large community, needs a high ratio of attention, or whose family wants a quieter, more homelike environment.
What it typically includes
Adult care homes are licensed at different care levels, and each home has its own personality, house rules, and caregiver. This is the category where an in-person relationship with the operator matters most, and where a database search alone tends to fail families.

Most families reach us in one of these situations. Any of them is a good reason to call.
Discharge planners often give families a very short window. We work on that timeline, and we already know which communities have genuine availability right now rather than a waitlist.
This is the most common call we get. Families often assume assisted living when an adult care home is the better fit, or ask about memory care before a diagnosis exists. We start by understanding the situation, not by selling a category.
Usually this means the care needs exceeded the license or the staffing. We help you understand why it happened, so the next placement holds.
We ask about financial resources early. Not to sell you something, but because placing someone in a community they cannot afford for more than a few months helps no one. We also refer families to VA benefits and Medicaid-related resources.
We tour on your behalf, in person, and tell you what we actually saw. Being local is the whole point.
The best time to do this. There is no cost and no obligation to talk with us early.
You can search a national website and get a list. What you cannot get from a database is someone who has stood in the building, met the caregiver, and knows which homes take the care level your parent actually needs.
See our five-step processWe have walked into these communities and met the people who run them. National referral websites match you from a database; we match you from experience.
